We Decked The Halls At Global Resources!

As the New Year approaches, here’s a final look at all the holiday décor that cheered visitors and employees, alike, at Global Resources.  Beyond our traditional snowflake display, snowmen were a popular theme as well as Christmas trees of all shapes, sizes, and styles (from traditional to very modern).  Doors, desks, even white boards were decorated!

Go Bears and Merry Christmas!

Happy New Year!

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

There are traditions that you look forward to every holiday season.  A few of our family favorites would include taking an excursion to Chicago to view the decorated department store windows on Michigan Avenue, donating to the Salvation Army bell ringers (an especially big thrill for young children), and staying after hours to see the lights (and sleeping animals) at Lincoln Park Zoo.  Here at the Global Resources, it’s all about Toys For Tots, our Food Drive, and the giant snowflakes that magically dangle above our desks and deck our hallways!

Launching Our Annual Food Drive

Kim checks out the almost full (with four weeks still until Xmas!) Food Drive bins;
the generosity of her coworkers continues to astound her.

We celebrate the holiday season at Global Resources not just with decorations, cards and gifts, but by reaching out to those less fortunate through our Food Drive.  Once again, Kim has organized the launch of this annual event, obtaining donation bins, creating flyers and sending out email blasts.  It is a personal crusade for Kim to help prevent hunger in our community.

Bags, bags, bags!

This year, working with the Libertyville Food Pantry, she has …

6 Ways For Your Business To Beat The Flu

Small Business Flu Prevention 101

Prevention is the best strategy when it comes to the flu!

Flu season runs from October to May.  While the news may be filled with Ebola stories, the reality of the situation is that seasonal flu is far more likely to disrupt your business.  Per the www.Flu.gov website, “each flu season, nearly 11 million workdays are lost due to the flu.  That equals approximately $7 billion per year in sick days and lost productivity.”  Unlike Ebola, there are preventive measures that you can take as a business owner to protect your employees, your company, and your community.  Know that healthy …

Even Scarier Than Last Year!

The finance department has once again turned their office area into a haunted attraction.  Jack o’ lanterns glow, monsters lurk above, and desks are under attack from giant spiders.  Shout out to Wonder for organizing all the decorations!

New Healthier Vending Arrives At GR!

It was with great anticipation that we watched our new vending machines being installed and then filled with healthier beverage, snack and meal selections.  While we had the opportunity to taste-test a selection of the healthy menu items provided by Mastercraft, earlier in the year, we couldn’t wait to have full access on a daily basis!

Many choices recall the popular ‘Eat This, Not That!’ book series, offering healthier versions of our favorite impulse vending choices.  There something to accommodate every type of diet restriction imaginable from sugar free, low sugar, corn syrup free, artificial sweetener free, caffeine free, low …

Global Resources Provides Toys For Children In The ER!

Some of the toys that were purchased.

Toys are great tool to help alleviate a child’s suffering in the ER when possibly facing invasive procedures such as IV starts, X-rays, spinal taps, stitches or devastating news.

Kim’s daughter Amanda works in the Pediatric Emergency Department of Central DuPage Hospital and she made us aware that there was a shortage of toys specifically meant to engage children who visit there for treatment.

Amanda and her son, Dominic, collect a donation from Jen.

Due to a high volume of autistic cases, specific toys/games/arts & craft materials were required as these toys needed …

Varro Has Been Vested!

Everyone at Global Resources was excited to learn that Varro now has his own bulletproof vest.

We had hosted an online fundraiser for him last fall, collecting the needed $2,500.00 for a top-of-the-line vest via our coworkers and the Wauconda community (where Varro serves), at large.  We had to wait, however, until Varro reached his full adult size to be fitted with a vest.  Now Varro is able to enjoy the same level of protection as human officers!

We’re already organizing our next fundraiser to assist another local K-9.  Be aware that there are an estimated 30,000 canine officers …

Can A Blood Drive Be Warm & Fuzzy?

If your company has ever hosted a blood drive for the American Red Cross, you’re aware that it’s not an easy sell, such as a bake sale—mmm, warm homemade chocolate chip cookies, or even asking for a cash donation for a charity.  It involves blood and needles.  It’s a personal sacrifice.

You Just Need a Spokespuppet!

We wanted to soften the clinical message of the Red Cross supplied flyers and make our blood drive much friendlier and more approachable—dare we say, even warm & fuzzy…  Enter our promotional inspiration from Sesame Street!

We still shared the all important Red …
